Select the Right Earrings for Your Face
You might find it difficult to calculate the shape of your own face. However, there are a few easy tricks you can use in order to come to an educated answer.
First of all, pull your hair into a ponytail or better yet, look in the mirror immediately after stepping out of the shower while your hair is wet and slicked back. Then use a lipstick or an eyeliner pencil to trace the shape of your face onto the mirror. Typically, the shape of your face will stand out dramatically and it will be easy to discern the exact shape of your face. If you find that the shape of your face is unclear using the eyeliner method, you can measure and write down the following results: Measure your forehead, your cheekbones, and your jawbone. After that, measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of your chance and then draw your results on paper using straight lines and a “connect the dots” method.
Once you’ve determined the shape of your face, it's time to start selecting earrings that compliment that particular shape.
An oval-shaped face is usually suited best by earrings that widen and balance out the shape. Large oval-shaped earrings, as well as large hoops, larger round studs, and other "ball" shapes work best on an oval face. Avoid hearings that are long or dangling, as they will lengthen your face.
You'll find that the shape of a round face is best suited by earrings that create substantial balance. Angular shapes, such as squares and rectangles, often work well to counteract the visual effects of a round face. Also for round faces, it's important to avoid wearing tiny earrings. Tiny earrings can be overwhelmed by a round face.
And those who have heart-shaped faces will be better suited by earrings that balance out the cheekbones. It’s good idea to select earrings that are angular or flared. For example, select dangle earrings with a large object at the bottom and avoid wearing hoops or circle shaped earrings, as it will only add to a broad forehead.
If your face is triangular in shape, you will find small circular earrings or long dangly earrings work the best. You will also note that earrings with curves will soften the angles of a triangular shaped face and add an air of femininity. If your chin is pointed, you should avoid earrings that are pointed.
If you follow these quick tips and remember to dress for the occasion and suit your earrings to your clothing style. You'll find that you maintain a sense of fashion that will get noticed time and time again.

The History of the Earring
Archaeologists have unearthed earrings that date back to around the third millennium B.C. According to their findings, earrings were a preferred piece of jewelry for both the ancient Greeks and the ancient Egyptians. At that time, the ancient Egyptian people typically forged their earrings from pliable metals such as gold. The Greeks, however, preferred to use multicolored gemstones in the production of their ear jewelry.
The Middle Ages marked a dramatic change in the hairstyles and clothing worn by most of the population. With the onset of of 17th century, however, earrings made a dramatic comeback and have since remained fashionable for most women. In fact, many men in western cultures now wear earrings on a regular basis. The earring is less popular as a male accessory in eastern countries such as China and Japan.
During the days of Queen Victoria, earrings were forged of heavy precious metals and multicolored gemstones, all which bore significant weight. In fact, it's been said that Queen Victoria had noticeable stretching in her ear lobes, because of the weight of the earring she wore regularly.
As technology developed, women began designing new shapes and using new materials to create earrings. We can now make earrings out of much lighter materials, and a wide variety of synthetic material that weighs next to nothing. Ironically, now many people stretch their earlobes on purpose. The advent of the gauge earring has made it entirely acceptable to stretch out your earlobes in order to wear an unusual fashion. Nonetheless, the hoop earring has remained one of the most popular earring styles throughout history. This is possibly due to its simple design, but can also be credited to the fact that the hoop earring is one of the most attractive styles available.
Today, the question is not so much whether we will wear earrings, but rather, which pair we will wear. Gone are the days in which women had a precious one or two pairs. Most women, and some men, in modern culture have a massive selection of earrings. We spend much of our time digging through jewelry boxes to find the perfect pair. As a result of the onset of this earring hysteria, people have begun to discover many ways to organize jewelry. Today we have earring stands and earring trees, as well as a wide variety of other organizational techniques for keeping track of our jewelry.
The growth in popularity of the earring shows no signs of slowing down. As result, the advent of these jewelry organization techniques continues to be strong. If you're among the many that have a wide variety of earrings, as well as other jewelry, consider purchasing another piece of earring history ... the earring organizer.

Never Waste Time Searching for Earrings Again
We've all been there, we are running late, struggling to get dressed, do our hair and put on our makeup, when suddenly we remember that we haven't yet put on our jewelry. For most women, jewelry is a staple piece for any outfit, so leaving the house without jewelry would be like leaving without clothes! We then rush over to the jewelry box and raise the lid only to discover a giant, jumbled, knot of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. When we finally spot the earring we’re planning to wear for the evening and we reached out to grab it, we find that it's attached to about 42 other items and will not be freed easily. We proceed with trying to untangle our giant jewelry knot as we take the curlers out of our hair and apply mascara with our free hand.
Imagine how much time you would save if, when you walked to your dresser to select the perfect piece of jewelry for the evening, each earring, every hook, every bead, and every post was perfectly organized! How much easier would it be to spend 30 seconds looking for a pair of earrings as opposed to 30 minutes?
There are lots of tips and tricks that people used for keeping jewelry organized. Unfortunately, many of these homemade jewelry organization tricks are unsightly, or don't work at all. The good news is, that we've finally gotten wise. As time has passed, we've developed some innovative and successful ways to keep our jewelry, and our earrings in particular, neat and organized.
The advent of the earring organizer has saved countless numbers of women great quantities of time, both in the morning before work and in the evening before a big night out. Earring organizers take on a wide variety of forms. Many women are advocates of the earring tree; there are earrings stands, and even earring racks. But perhaps one of the most marketable earring organizers is the hanging earring holder.
The hanging earring holder allows women to display their earrings side by side on a flat surface that can be hung on the wall or leaned against a mirror. Not only does this make access to earrings quick and easy, it also creates a decorative and, quite often beautiful, display. The hanging earring holder also allows women to select which earring will go best with what outfit without having to put them on or dig for that oh so common “trial and error” pair. So, if you're looking for the perfect gift for that special lady in your life, consider saving her some time and present her with the gift of the earring organization.
